Dear all my readers, long time no see.
I’ve been busy relocating myself from London in the UK to Guangzhou in China for the pass month plus having Chinese New Year celebration. So…happy Chinese New Year to all of you!! And I wish you best of luck and life running smooth like a racing horse! (It is year of Horse in 2014 🙂
This is going to be a long blog to read.
Firstly let’s take a look at things still related to the UK and China.
When I got back to China, what my family and friends been asking the most, was ‘How is it like in the UK and is everything so different there?’
The answer is no.
The world is obviously not the way it is one century back. This question also found its place when people in London asked me about China.
You see, people always had the idea of a different nation means a different world. But as I put in my latest Facebook update, ‘China and the UK share similar conservative culture, UK and US share similar modern society, while China and the US share similar way to gain power – guns and crops…’
There’s a pattern we can find all the places in the world, we are, after all, living on the same planet. But I can see the power of media, again, making people get confused about the sense of ‘American’ with ‘Western’. I would tell people, in this world, it is just American media having problem with Chinese government, and, on the same hand, it is just Chinese media having problem with American government. But Americanism is so strong, that made Chinese thought they are the only Westerners in this world.
What I appreciate the most from my year studying my MA in London, is that I met people from different countries where I barely got the chance to know about their cultures and environment when I was in China, when the whole information network in China was obviously too busy dealing with Americans.
However, what made China and the US being so typically kind of working against each other in some way?
Maybe as my conclusion on my Facebook status, they are so surprisingly alike. Come on, they drive on the same side, you see?
Never forget Russia if we are talking about big nations.
Sochi is under keen attention of vase majority of the world, but for more than sports sake. This scene will represent Russia for the rest of this year if nothing big will come up later.
Hosting international sports events is not just a way to show hospitality or power of a nation, but attitude. We might think Sochi Winter Olympics Opening simply proved Russia is not quite ready to go under the world’s spotlight, but I would say never underestimate a KGB.
From the meeting between head of Russia and Japan, about the dog, if you know what I meant, Putin remain tough and Abe should have good think how to deal with both Putin and Xi. For the record, Putin and Xi are not necessary on the same side anyway. But whether Abe will be suppressed by both of them for the rest of 2014 or there will be a bigger mess, let’s wait and see.
The following video, you can say I like it just for the reason of me being feminism or simply that’s just a really powerful media campaign.
This is a video against men, women and children being trafficked – tricked, forced and exploited in the sex industry. I feel so much for the girls, because I once dreamed of becoming a dancer as well, but my blog here I am writing this moment is definitely much better than the windows they were in.
