I just found some ‘notes’ I wrote on Facebook from the year before. It looks crazy to me now when I read them again.
It was really mushy and sad content, moaning and complaining, like when I was teenager, I complain a lot in Chinese social media platform as well. This makes me come to think of a few days ago I was reading some comments on Weibo. It was pretty intimidating when people are not using Chinese properly, and I feel the same when I see people not writing English properly online.
But I mean, I used to write like ‘i dunt know wat r u talkin abt…’ and now I will prefer to spell every word properly?
And just to think, Internet has developed a new type of literature with abbreviations, replacing words with symbols, and putting ‘smily faces’ , when we are complaining about young people are not writing properly, have you ever thought of that’s the situation that they grow up with?
This comes to users’ awareness of what they are saying on their social media platform. If the ‘Internet Generation’ is grew up in the environment of ‘how abt u’ and ‘:)’ and ‘LOL’, it is absolutely normal for them typing like that on the Internet and text messaging.
Also, if the new generation grew up with the Internet, unlike I said in two posts back about being careful with your social media appearance, younger generation has more chilling attitude towards social media, they know that social media reflects their attitude about life, and they don’t really seem to to care, and that is exactly why more responsibility is required for the Internet environment in terms of educating the next generation.
Or maybe, it is time to move on to a new era referred as the era of Internet literature?
